Her Why

“Partnering with each patient is a privilege and the results can be life-changing.

That’s the line Kristine comes back to when people ask why she does this work: “Partnering with each patient is a privilege and the results can be life-changing, which is why I love what I do.” It isn’t a tagline — it’s the standard she built THRIVE around. Every plan starts with listening, testing, and understanding the whole person in front of her.

After two decades in front of a camera and a second act spent earning her nursing credentials, Kristine founded THRIVE Hormonal Health and Wellness to practice medicine the way she believes it should be practiced: unhurried, root-cause, and genuinely individualized.

  • iRoot-cause care. She looks for the why behind the symptoms, not just a quick prescription to mask them.
  • iiShe listens. Plans are built around your labs, your history, and your goals — never a one-size-fits-all template.
  • iiiOptimize, don’t band-aid. The goal is to help you feel like yourself again and stay that way, with ongoing monitoring.
From Meteorology to Medicine

A storm chaser who found her calling in helping people heal.

Kristine was born in Dayton, Ohio, and raised on a horse farm near Columbus until her father’s retirement from the Air Force moved the family to Boerne, Texas, near his hometown of San Antonio. Texas became home, and Texas A&M University became her launchpad — she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology in 1989.

For roughly the next 20 years, Kristine forecasted and broadcast the weather to millions of viewers across Texas, in markets including Waco, Austin, and Dallas/Fort Worth. It was a career built on translating complex science into something people could understand and act on — a skill that, years later, would turn out to be exactly what good medicine requires. In 2007 she put that expertise to work in a different way, writing a series of children’s books and hosting weather-education seminars for teachers to help young children understand severe storms.

A new calling

In 2009 Kristine felt a calling to help others more personally — through the art and science of medicine. She went back to school, and in 2013 graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. While working as an emergency room nurse with Cook Children’s Medical Center, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Maryville University and her certification in Family Practice in 2017.

That hands-on emergency experience — seeing patients at their most acute — shaped how she thinks about prevention and root causes today, and it informs the whole-person approach behind THRIVE’s hormone care. In the ER she watched how often a crisis was the late chapter of a problem that had been building, unaddressed, for years. It left her determined to practice further upstream — to catch the imbalances and deficiencies that quietly erode quality of life long before they become emergencies.

Discovering Hormone Optimization

When “sick-care” wasn’t working, she found a better way.

Over an eight-year journey from broadcasting to bedside, Kristine came to a conviction that would define her practice: the conventional “sick-care” model — waiting for people to break, then patching them up — simply wasn’t working. Patients were being managed, not helped, and root causes were going unaddressed.

The turning point was personal. Kristine discovered firsthand the benefits of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) — experiencing for herself the difference that balanced, optimized hormones can make in energy, clarity, and overall well-being. That experience reframed everything she thought about how care should work. She had spent years inside a system that reacted to illness; now she had felt, in her own body, what proactive optimization could do. The two perspectives didn’t fit together — and she chose the one that helped people feel well.

Trained in the EvexiPEL method

In 2018 Kristine was trained and certified in the EvexiPEL method — a precision approach to bioidentical hormone pellet therapy developed by a team that trains providers nationwide. It gave her a rigorous, individualized framework for the kind of care she’d come to believe in: tested first, dosed to the person, and monitored over time.

Today that conviction shows up across the practice — from pellet therapy and broader women’s and men’s hormone care to thyroid optimization. THRIVE was founded to be the alternative she couldn’t find: proactive, personalized, and built around helping people thrive rather than merely survive.

How Kristine Practices Today

Root causes, real conversations, and care that’s monitored.

As a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Kristine has helped hundreds of men and women — ages 30 to 80 — address the root causes behind issues that conventional visits often brush past: anxiety, depression, unexplained weight gain or muscle loss, poor sleep, sexual-performance concerns, and the loss of mental clarity, vitality, and overall well-being that so many people are told to simply accept. The common thread is that these patients had usually been told their numbers were “normal” and their symptoms were just age — and they knew, in their bodies, that something was off.

It starts with listening and testing

Kristine doesn’t begin with a prescription pad. She begins with a real conversation and comprehensive lab work, because the same symptom can have very different causes from one person to the next. Where the picture points to hormone imbalance, she may build a plan around menopause support, bioidentical hormone replacement, men’s hormone optimization, or thyroid optimization — always dosed to your individual numbers.

Individualized and monitored, never set-and-forget

Care at THRIVE is provider-directed and continually refined. Kristine re-checks labs and symptoms, fine-tunes each cycle, and adjusts the plan as your body responds — the difference between care that gets better over time and a prescription that drifts. Hormone therapy can also pair with complementary services like peptide therapy, medical weight loss, and aesthetics when those support your goals. Not sure where you fall? The symptom checklist is a good first step.
